Back to the Beginning
The potential for stay-at-home for 30 days is looming. I have three work days left on maternity leave at this point and am scheduled to only be in the office next Thursday while working from home Wednesday and Friday.
My anxiety has slowly risen with each passing day. I am experiencing postpartum depression at the same time. So not only am I back on my antidepressant, I know I need to do some self-care to help suppress the rising worries within.
My plan includes reading the Word, journaling and praying each evening after putting Naise to bed. I will watch Disney+ or Netflix when I need. I will read. And I will blog once a week, even if it ends up not being my best writing.
So, here I am at 545a, writing the first post of my new plan. I chose to title it as I did because I am strictly going to take random questions from "quizzes" you see floating around Facebook so that you, my lovely readers, can get to know me better. Some of this you may know. Some of this may be completely new to you. Either way it will be fun, different, and silly.
Do you put ketchup on hot dogs?
If I am eating one of a bun, then yes. I also use mustard, relish and occasionally onions. If I am eating one sans-bun, then I like to dip it in ranch.
Can you swim?
I used to be able to. I took swimming lessons as a kid. However, I almost drowned at my cousin's grandparents farm in their pond. I can do very basic things now, but I am notorious for plugging my nose and am terrified of being in water that I cannot see the bottom in. I try not to let it stop me though.
Favorite type of food?
In all reality, I could probably give one dish that I love from many different cultures. I will say that I do love me some good Cajun food! German would be bierocks (even though my family calls them a different German name that I'm suddenly blanking on). Mexican would be chilaquiles. Peruvian would be alpaca or lomo saltado (yes, I said alpaca). Vietnamese is pho. And the list goes on and on...
Favorite time of year?
I love winter. The smell of the first snow coming. The cold air. Bundling up with a good book and a cup of caramel apple cider. Plus, it is the season with my favorite holiday - Christmas!
Favorite hobby?
I have a few. Drawing, reading, and writing. Then there is my love of anything Disney. I love learning about and researching serial killers - the human brain fascinates me.
Do you have any phobias?
I have already mentioned one (see swimming question). I am afraid of the dark, which took me a long time to admit to. I am also terrified of birds. Yes, birds. They are pretty to look at from a distance, but that is it. I cling to Brandon if I have to walk through an aviary at a zoo.
Do you have a nickname?
It really depends on who you talk to. Most people, including the vast majority of my family, call me Manda. My Dad still calls me Sis or Mandonay. Brandon calls me Panda. One friend calls me Mandada. Mandy is another, although there are only two people who can get away with still calling me this.
Favorite flower?
I love red and white roses. A former friend used to say that those are two usual ones stated, but what many people don't know is that my Grandpa Cottrell grew these two colors of roses in their backyard. They were beautiful and they remind me of him. I also like calla lilies.
Favorite place you have ever traveled?
I have enjoyed going many places over my 37 years. I would say that Peru tops the list though.
If you could have any career...?
One of them has always been an animator for Disney. My main one is a forensic psychologist (profiling); however, sadly, I have aged out of starting at the FBI.
You have the remote. What are you watching?
Criminal Minds, The Office, Gilmore Girls, SEAL Team, Food Network, sports, Disney movies.
Who are you named after?
Supposedly no one, my parents just liked my name. However, my Grandpa told me that Amanda came from his mother whose middle name was that. And there was a character on my Mom's favorite soap opera at that time named Renee.
Bonus - I do not have the traditional French accent in my middle name.
Bonus #2 - had I been a boy, my name would have been Sean Patrick.
What is your favorite kind of cereal?
Life or Apple Jacks
Favorite sport and team?
I like a lot of sports, so here it goes
NCAA (overall) - Nebraska Cornhuskers. I will cheer for KU as well. (In women's basketball, I'll also cheer for UConn. In softball, I also cheer for Florida State.)
NFL - Denver Broncos
NBA - not a huge fan of this one. Back in the day my main team was the Seattle Supersonics (now the Oklahoma Thunder FYI). Always have and will continue to cheer for the Denver Nuggets.
NHL - Colorado Avalanche
MLB - Chicago Cubs. I also cheered for the Seattle Mariners when I was a teen (Ken Griffey, Jr. was awesome).
Tennis - Novak Djokovic
Favorite Disney character?
Classic - Mickey Mouse
Princess - Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Belle
Non-Princess - Tinker Bell and Anna
Villian - Maleficent
Prince - Phillip (Sleeping Beauty)
Non-Prince - Aladdin
Sidekick - Pascal (Tangled)
Animated Movie - this is rough, but Sleeping Beauty edges ahead just barely
Live Action - The Happiest Millionaire followed by Maleficent
TV Series - Duck Tales or Lizzie McGuire
A few last favorites...
Movie (not counting Disney) - While You Were Sleeping
Musical - Wicked, Dear Evan Hansen, and Hamilton
Actress - Sandra Bullock, Emily Blunt and Julie Andrews
Actor - Keanu Reeves, John Krasinski and Robin Williams
Bonus - my older-than-me-actor-crush growing up was Bill Pullman.
Ok...I think this is a good starting up again. I might add one new fact about me at the end of each post. Feel free, lovelies, to put a question in the comments to give me more ideas. They can be silly or serious. You can also ask me about any of the ones I answered above if you are curious for more insight into my mind and me.
Until next time...Je t'aime!
